For clarification purposes, we’re going to focus on getting a diagnosis for breast cancer.
Take a Step Back
Getting a serious diagnosis can be quite a shock. It is important that you are able to come to terms with the diagnosis first before you are able to address the other necessary steps.
Bring in a Partner
If you cannot seem to come to terms with things and have difficult moving past this step, we suggest that you bring in someone that you trust to help you with this. Do not restrict yourself with the term ‘partner’. This can refer to anyone in your life that you trust implicitly—someone that you know will have your best interest at heart and will support you in your coming journey.
Start Organizing Your Life
This doesn’t mean that you should do anything drastic. Instead, consider streamlining your errands, activities, and all other things. Your details should be in order like your next doctor’s appointment, medication schedule, or even your next treatment.
Talk to Your Physician of Choice
Once you are able to at least acknowledge that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, it would be important to talk to your healthcare provider. They will be able to give you an idea of the options that you can pursue when it comes to your diagnosis.
One thing you will realize is that you are not the only one that is undergoing this change in life. There are countless others that are in the midst of their own trials. It would do you go to meet other people like yourself. As helpful as your support group is, getting the chance to talk to someone going through the same thing is a different thing altogether.
